Our Why
I started Cometa because I felt a real gap in my own life. The pandemic opened the door to a life I’d always wanted: the freedom to work from anywhere. A friend called me and said, “Come to Tarifa.” We rented a beautiful home by the sea. We worked. We kited. We trained. We explored. It was the perfect mix: sport + work + fun + connection + the right people. And I remember thinking: “Why isn’t life always like this?” When the world opened again, I tried to keep that lifestyle. I flew to windy spots, rented incredible homes, and brought friends together to recreate that same energy. Amazing trips… but they lasted one or two weeks at best. And every time it became harder: planning, coordinating, convincing. My lifestyle was flexible, but not everyone else’s was. People went back to offices, got busier, got married, got settled. Not everyone had the same hunger for adventure, sports, freedom, or growth. I didn’t want a holiday. I wanted that life, all the time. So I tried doing it alone. I went to remote sport destinations. Stayed in co-livings, Airbnbs, hostels. Met people everywhere… but it was always hit or miss. Too random. Too transient. Never the mix of ambition + curiosity + sport + adventure + kindness + energy I was looking for. Then, on one of my solo trips, I met Fred, a kiter, an entrepreneur, living exactly how I wanted to live. Same hunger for adventure. Same ambition. Same problem. That’s when it hit me: There are thousands of us living this lifestyle…we’re just scattered. When I told him about Cometa, he said: “Let’s do it.” That’s the energy I wanted, people who push you, believe in your ideas, and make you expand. Because the truth is: A lot of us have built our dream lifestyle: We have freedom, health, flexibility, ambition, and a deep love for sports and adventure... But the people around us can’t always live it with us. And that’s why Cometa exists. To bring us together.
Amidst the chaos of the pandemic, when the world felt like it was shrinking and we were all drifting apart, a simple invitation changed everything. A friend called me up and said, “Come to Tarifa.”
We worked during the day and hit the waves in the afternoon. The lifestyle, the home, the people—everything felt alive. We pushed each other—not just in sports, but in life and work. And I thought, this is how I want to live—and I want to help others experience it too.
But when things returned to “normal,” I found myself in New York, feeling disconnected, unsatisfied, sleepwalking through life. I was surrounded by amazing people and my job offered a lot of flexibility but as life got busier, coordinating became harder and I was missing a reliable network of people who shared my drive for adventure, sports, and the freedom to live life on their own terms.
I tried going solo—co-living spaces, Airbnbs, short-term rentals, hotels—but something was always missing. The right people. The right energy. The feeling of belonging.
That’s when the idea for Cometa struck me. Not just dream homes in sports havens, but a community of ambitious, adventurous, free-spirited individuals who want to push limits, explore, and create unforgettable experiences together. Because in the end, it's not just about the places you go or the things you do – it's about the people you meet along the way.
It all started to come together in the summer of 2022, when I rented a villa on the shores of Djerba and invited different groups of friends to join me. Strangers became family, experiences turned into lifelong memories, and something rare and beautiful began to emerge. A space where adventure and connection existed effortlessly together.
And that’s how Cometa was born.
